Traditional Christmas Cheese Ball

Ingredients

  • 2 (8 oz) blocks cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ¼ cup finely chopped green onions
  • ¼ cup finely chopped pimentos or roasted red peppers
  • ¼ cup finely chopped pecans or walnuts (plus extra for coating)
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Mix the Base: In a large mixing bowl, add the softened cream cheese, shredded sharp cheddar cheese, and grated Parmesan cheese. Using a sturdy spatula or hand mixer, begin mixing until the cheeses are well combined and smooth. Fully softened cream cheese is essential here to achieve a creamy, spreadable texture without lumps.
  2. Add Flavorings: Add the chopped green onions, pimentos or roasted red peppers, finely chopped nuts, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly distributed throughout the cheese mixture. The mixture should look uniform, colorful, and thick enough to hold its shape.
  3. Shape the Cheese Ball: Lay a large piece of plastic wrap on a clean work surface. Spoon the cheese mixture into the center of the wrap. Use the plastic wrap and your hands to gently shape the mixture into a compact ball, pressing lightly to remove air pockets and smooth the surface.
