Stuffed Deep Dish Pizza Pie

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Ensure your oven is fully heated before baking to achieve a crisp, golden crust.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef with diced onion and bell pepper until the meat is browned and the vegetables are tender. Drain any excess fat for a less greasy filling. Stir in garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and about 1/2 cup of pizza sauce. Allow the mixture to simmer gently for 3–5 minutes to combine flavors, then remove from heat and set aside.
  3. Grease a deep cake pan or cast iron skillet. Roll out the pizza dough into a large circle and press it into the pan, letting it rise up the sides like a pie crust. Ensure the dough reaches evenly around the edges to hold the filling securely.
  4. Layer half of the shredded mozzarella on the bottom of the dough. Add the cooked beef mixture, gently pressing it down to create an even layer. Top with cheddar if using, followed by the remaining mozzarella. Spread the remaining 1/2 cup of pizza sauce evenly on top, then add pepperoni slices and any additional toppings such as sliced jalapeños or mushrooms.
