Savory Chinese-Style Ground Beef & Cabbage Skillet Recipe

  1. Brown the Beef:
Heat sesame oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula as it cooks. Cook for 5–7 minutes until browned, then drain any excess fat if necessary.
  2. Add Aromatics:
Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger. Cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly, until fragrant. These aromatics add a depth of flavor to the dish.
  3. Stir-Fry the Vegetables:
Add the sliced cabbage and julienned carrots to the skillet. Toss well and stir-fry for 5–7 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender but still crisp. This will give the dish a nice crunch and freshness.
  4. Season:
Pour in the soy sauce, rice vinegar, and hoisin sauce (if using). Stir to evenly coat the beef and vegetables in the sauce. Season with crushed red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper to taste. Adjust the seasoning according to your preference for sweetness or heat.
  5. Garnish & Serve:
Remove the skillet from heat. Sprinkle the chopped green onions and sesame seeds over the top for garnish. This adds a burst of freshness and a crunchy texture to finish the dish. Serve hot with steamed rice, noodles, or as a low-carb bowl.
