Mexican Restaurant-Style White Cheese Dip

1️⃣ Sauté the Aromatics

  1. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Add the finely diced onions and cook until translucent, about 3–5 minutes.

2️⃣ Melt the Cheese

  1. Reduce the heat to low and add the cubed white American cheese and milk.
  2. Stir frequently as the cheese begins to melt, ensuring it doesn’t stick or burn.
  3. Continue stirring until the cheese is completely melted and smooth. If the dip is too thick, add more milk gradually to loosen the consistency.

3️⃣ Add Flavor

  1. Stir in the green chiles, chopped jalapeños, cumin, and garlic powder. Mix well.
  2. Taste and add salt as needed.
  3. Keep the heat on low and continue to cook for another 2–3 minutes, stirring occasionally, to allow the flavors to meld.

4️⃣ Serve

  • Serve the dip warm in a bowl with tortilla chips, nachos, or drizzle over burritos, tacos, or fajitas.
  • Optional garnish: chopped cilantro or a sprinkle of chili powder.
