Homemade Chocolate Sticks

Preparation

  1. Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, add the egg and sugar. Using a whisk or an electric mixer, mix them together until the sugar is fully dissolved, and the mixture is smooth. Sifting the flour and baking powder together is an important step to ensure they are evenly distributed, preventing lumps and ensuring a smooth texture in your dough. Once sifted, add them to the egg and sugar mixture, followed by the softened butter. Knead everything together until you achieve a soft, homogeneous, and compact dough. The dough should not be too sticky but should come together easily into a ball.
  2. Chill the Dough: Once the dough is prepared, wrap it tightly in plastic wrap to prevent it from drying out. Place the wrapped dough in the refrigerator and let it chill for about 40 minutes. Chilling the dough helps to firm it up, making it easier to shape into sticks and ensuring they hold their form while baking.
  3. Shape the Dough: After the dough has chilled, remove it from the refrigerator and begin shaping it. Cut off a small piece of dough and roll it into a long, thick loaf, about the thickness of your little finger. Then, cut the loaf into small sticks, each about 8-10 cm (3-4 inches) long. Be sure to keep the sticks uniform in size so they bake evenly. The dough will expand slightly as it bakes, so make sure they are not too thick or too thin.
