Step 1: Make the Crust
- Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F).
- In a small bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs with the melted butter. Mix until the texture resembles wet sand.
- Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of a 23 cm (9-inch) pie dish to form an even crust layer. Set aside.
Step 2: Prepare the Cream Cheese Layer
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese and sugar together until smooth and creamy.
- Add vanilla extract and mix in the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Pour the cream cheese mixture over the prepared graham cracker crust and spread evenly.
Step 3: Add the Sweet Potato Layer
- In a separate mixing bowl, combine mashed sweet potatoes, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cloves, and the egg.
- Mix until fully incorporated and smooth.
- Carefully spread this mixture over the cream cheese layer using a spatula, ensuring even coverage without disturbing the base layer.
Step 4: Bake
- Bake the pie in the preheated oven for 45ā50 minutes, or until the center is set and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Remove the pie and allow it to cool completely at room temperature before topping.
