1. Prepare the Cheesecake Filling
- In a medium bowl, beat together the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and fluffy.
- Option 1: Place about 1 teaspoon of filling onto each wonton and top with a small dollop of strawberry jam.
- Option 2: Mix diced strawberries or strawberry jam directly into the cheesecake mixture for a swirled filling.
2. Assemble the Wontons
- Lay out wonton wrappers on a clean surface.
- Place 1 teaspoon of cheesecake filling in the center of each wrapper.
- Moisten the edges with a little water using your finger.
- Fold the wrapper into a triangle or envelope shape and press the edges to seal tightly, removing as much air as possible.
- Repeat until all wrappers are filled and sealed.
3. Fry the Wonton Bites
- In a deep skillet or saucepan, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the wontons in batches, turning occasionally, for 1–2 minutes per side or until golden brown and crisp.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
