Classic Spritz Cookies

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Preheat Oven

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Do not line your baking sheet with parchment—spritz cookies need direct contact with the pan to stick when pressed.

2️⃣ Make the Dough

  1. In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter with powdered sugar and salt until light and fluffy (2–3 minutes).
  2. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract until smooth and creamy.
  3. Gradually beat in the flour, mixing just until incorporated and a soft dough forms.

3️⃣ Color & Fill

  • If using food coloring, divide the dough and tint as desired.
  • Fill the cookie press with dough and press cookies directly onto an ungreased baking sheet about 2 inches apart.

4️⃣ Bake

  • Bake for 6–8 minutes, or until the edges are just set and barely golden. Do not overbake—spritz cookies should stay pale and tender.
  • Cool on the pan for 2–3 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
