- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the flour and whisk constantly for about 2 minutes, until it forms a smooth paste and begins to turn golden (this is your roux).
3️⃣ Create the Cream Sauce
- Slowly add the warm milk to the roux, whisking continuously to prevent lumps.
- Cook and stir for about 5 minutes, or until the sauce thickens to a creamy consistency.
4️⃣ Add the Beef and Season
- Stir in the chopped dried beef and a pinch of cayenne pepper (optional for a slight kick).
- Simmer for another 1–2 minutes to warm through and meld flavors.
5️⃣ Serve
- Spoon the creamed chipped beef generously over toasted bread slices.
- Serve hot, optionally with a side of sautéed greens or soft-cooked eggs for a fuller meal.
