Christmas Mints (Classic Cream Cheese Butter Mints)

Step 1: Make the Mint Dough

  1. In a large bowl, beat cream cheese and butter together until smooth and creamy.
  2. Mix in peppermint extract.
  3. Gradually add powdered sugar, 1 cup at a time, mixing until a soft, pliable  dough forms.
  4. The dough should be smooth and not sticky. Add more powdered sugar if needed.

Step 2: Color the Dough (Optional)

  1. Divide dough into portions if using multiple colors.
  2. Add a small amount of gel food coloring to each portion.
  3. Knead gently until color is evenly distributed.

Step 3: Shape the Mints

Classic Fork-Pressed Mints

  1. Roll dough into ½-inch balls.
  2. Place on parchment-lined baking sheets.
  3. Press gently with a fork to create ridges.

Alternative Shapes

Step 4: Dry the Mints

  1. Let mints air-dry uncovered at room temperature for 6–12 hours.
  2. Turn once halfway through for even drying.
  3. Mints should be firm on the outside and soft inside.
