Cheesy Beefy Stuffed Rolls

Cheesy Beefy Rolls are soft, fluffy yeast rolls filled with a savory, well-seasoned beef and cheddar mixture, then baked until golden and finished with melted mozzarella on top. These rolls deliver a perfect balance of tender bread, juicy beef, and gooey cheese in every bite. They work beautifully as a hearty appetizer, a satisfying snack, or a comforting main dish paired with your favorite sauces or sides.

Ingredients

For the Beef Filling

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or more for topping)

For the Dough

  • 1 package (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water (110°F)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

For the Topping

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Dough

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve the sugar in the warm water and sprinkle the yeast on top. Let the mixture sit for 5–10 minutes, or until the yeast becomes foamy and activated. This step ensures the dough will rise properly.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Pour in the yeast mixture and add the olive oil. Stir until a shaggy dough begins to form.
  3. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5–7 minutes, until the dough becomes smooth, elastic, and no longer sticky. Proper kneading develops the gluten structure for soft, fluffy rolls.
  4. Place the kneaded dough into a lightly greased bowl, turning once so the surface is coated. Cover with a clean towel and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Make the Beef Filling

  1. While the dough is rising, heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until fully browned. Drain off any excess fat to prevent the filling from becoming greasy.
  2. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the beef. Cook for about 3–4 minutes, stirring frequently, until the onion softens and becomes translucent and fragrant.
  3. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, dried oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well so the seasonings evenly coat the meat. Remove from the heat and allow the mixture to cool slightly.
  4. Once slightly cooled, stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until evenly combined. Set the filling aside while you prepare the dough for shaping.
