👩🍳 Instructions
1️⃣ Prep the Banana Leaves
- Quickly pass each banana leaf over an open flame or hot burner to soften. This makes them flexible and less likely to tear during wrapping.
- Wipe clean and cut into rectangles (about 6–8 inches wide). Set aside.
2️⃣ Make the Tupig Mixture
- In a mixing bowl, combine the grated coconut and brown sugar. Mix well until the sugar starts to dissolve slightly.
- Add the glutinous rice flour, coconut milk, and melted butter. Stir together until you form a thick, sticky, and moist batter. It should be pliable, not dry.
3️⃣ Wrap the Tupig
- Lightly brush one side of each banana leaf piece with butter or margarine.
- Spoon about 3 tablespoons of the tupig mixture onto the center of the buttered side.
- Gently roll the leaf around the filling into a log shape, folding in both ends to secure. Repeat until all mixture is used.
4️⃣ Cook on the Pan
