Step-by-Step Guide
1. Safety First & Prep
-
Ensure the oven is completely cool and turned off.
-
Remove the oven racks, trays, and any other removable parts. You’ll clean these separately.
-
Put on your rubber gloves to protect your hands.
2. Make the Cleaning Paste
-
Place 2–3 dishwasher tablets in your bowl.
-
Pour just enough very hot water over them to cover them (about 1/4 to 1/2 cup).
-
Let them sit for a minute, then mash and stir with a fork until they dissolve into a thick, gritty paste.
3. Apply the Paste (The “Set It and Forget It” Step)
-
Using your gloved hands or a sponge, spread the paste liberally over the entire interior of the oven—walls, ceiling, floor, and door. Avoid heating elements and any exposed electrical components.
-
For extra-dirty spots or burnt-on spills, apply a thicker layer.
-
Soak several paper towels or rags in the remaining solution and lay them flat against the oven walls and door to keep the paste moist.
-
Close the oven door and let the paste work its magic for at least 1–2 hours, or even overnight for severe grime.
4. The Easy Wipe-Down
-
After the dwell time, remove the soggy paper towels.
-
Take a damp sponge or cloth and gently wipe the entire interior. The grime should slide off with little to no scrubbing.
-
For any remaining spots, apply a little more paste directly, let it sit for 10 minutes, and wipe again.
5. The Crucial Rinse
