1️⃣ Prepare the Toast
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Place the Texas toast directly on a baking sheet and bake for 5–6 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Set aside.
2️⃣ Make the Sloppy Joe Mixture
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and chopped onion until the beef is browned and onions are tender. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in ketchup, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Continue cooking over medium heat, stirring occasionally, for about 5–8 minutes until the mixture is thickened and saucy.
3️⃣ Assemble & Serve
- Spoon the hot sloppy joe mixture generously over each slice of Texas toast.
- Sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese.
- Optional: Place under the broiler for 1–2 minutes to melt and lightly brown the cheese.
- Serve immediately while hot and crispy!
