💧 Step 2: Soak to Activate Growth
- Before planting, soak your cured ginger pieces in room-temperature water for 24 hours. This will help remove any inhibitors and tell the ginger it’s time to wake up and start sprouting!
🪴 Step 3: Planting for Success
- Choose the Right Pot: Ginger spreads sideways, not downward. Use a wide, shallow pot with drainage holes. A larger container gives the ginger plenty of space to grow.
- Prepare the Soil: Use nutrient-rich potting soil mixed with compost. Ginger loves fertile soil but requires good drainage — no swampy situations allowed!
- Planting Depth: Bury each piece of ginger 1–2 inches deep with the buds pointing upward. If you’re unsure which side is up, simply lay it flat—ginger is clever enough to orient itself.
- Ideal Location: Ginger loves warmth and humidity with bright, indirect light. A warm spot near a window (but away from direct sunlight) is perfect.
