Soft Cream Cheese Cookies

Instructions

1. Preheat and Prep

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Allowing the oven to fully heat ensures the cookies bake evenly from the start. Line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats; this prevents sticking and helps the cookies maintain their delicate shape without over-browning on the bottoms.

2. Cream Fats and Sugar

  1. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and cream cheese until the mixture becomes completely blended and smooth. Both should be at room temperature so they combine without lumps. Add the granulated sugar and continue beating for 2–3 minutes until the mixture turns light, fluffy, and slightly aerated. This step helps create a soft cookie that holds its shape while remaining tender.

3. Add Flavor and Flour

  1. Mix in the vanilla extract, adding food coloring if using. Stir just enough to distribute the color evenly. Gradually add the flour, mixing on low speed to avoid overworking the dough. Continue until a soft dough forms that is smooth and cohesive but not sticky. Overmixing can toughen the dough, so stop as soon as the flour is fully incorporated.

4. Shape the Cookies
