Soak the Wheat
Wash the cracked wheat and soak it in water for 30 minutes. Drain before using. -
SautƩ the Aromatics
In a large pot, melt the butter or ghee. SautƩ the chopped onion until golden brown. -
Add Garlic
Stir in the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant. -
Spice & Chicken Time
Add the chicken pieces and all the spices. Stir well and cook for a few minutes to coat the chicken. -
Simmer
Pour in the water or chicken broth. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and cook until the chicken is tender (about 30ā40 minutes). -
Add Cracked Wheat
Stir in the soaked and drained wheat. Lower the heat and cook gently, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking. -
Shred Chicken
Once the chicken is very tender, remove it, shred it, and return it to the pot. -
Cook Until Creamy
Continue to cook the mixture until it thickens to a porridge-like consistency. Stir often. -
Final Touches
Adjust salt to taste. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley or cilantro if desired.
