Take a clean plastic bottle and cut it in half (or leave the top intact if preferred).
Fill the bottom half of the bottle with slightly damp sand. This will act as the rooting medium for your cuttings.
Use a sharp knife to make several small openings along the sides of the bottle. The holes should be just big enough to fit your lemon tree cuttings.
2️⃣ Insert the Cuttings:
Carefully place a small lemon tree cutting into each hole, ensuring that the ends of the cuttings are in contact with the sand inside. The bottle will resemble a spiky little creature from the outside, but it’s a perfect way to propagate your trees.
3️⃣ Let the Magic Happen:
Place the bottle in a warm, sunny spot to encourage growth. The warmth will help the cuttings root quickly, while the damp sand provides the necessary moisture.
Be patient — it’s tempting to check the progress every day, but try to resist. Roots usually appear within a few weeks.
4️⃣ Remove the Young Plants:
Once you notice the roots are well-developed (you’ll see little white root threads forming), gently remove each cutting from the bottle.
It’s often surprising to see just how many roots have formed in such a short time!
