Make Your Own Gluten-Free Flour Mix (All-Purpose or Self-Raising)

Instructions

  1. Combine ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together all the flours and starches until fully blended. If making self-raising flour, add the baking powder and xanthan gum at this stage and mix thoroughly.
  2. Store properly: Transfer the flour mix to an airtight container, label it, and store it in a cool, dry place such as a pantry. It will keep fresh for 6–8 months.
  3. Shake before use: Before each use, shake or stir the container to redistribute the ingredients evenly, as settling may occur over time.

Tips:

  • This mix can be used 1:1 in recipes that call for gluten-free flour blends.
  • Always check individual recipes to see if extra xanthan gum or leavening is needed based on the baked good.
  • Perfect for cakes, cupcakes, muffins, cookies, brownies, and even pastry doughs.

Yield: About 1.25 kg (10–11 cups of flour mix)
Storage: Airtight container in a cool, dry place for up to 8 months
