Honey Pepper Chicken Mac and Cheese

Instructions

  1. Cook the Chicken:
    Prepare the breaded chicken strips according to the package instructions. You can bake or fry them depending on your preference. Once fully cooked and crispy, set them aside to cool slightly before coating with the sauce later.
  2. Cook the Pasta:
    Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spiral noodles and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. Prepare the Honey Pepper Sauce:
    In a saucepan over medium heat, combine honey, brown sugar, soy sauce, pineapple juice, lemon juice, vinegar, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 15 minutes until slightly thickened. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly while you prepare the rest of the dish.
  4. Make the Cheese Sauce:
    In a large sauté pan or saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant. Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a low simmer. Gradually stir in the Parmesan, mozzarella, and Colby Jack cheeses one at a time, allowing each to melt before adding the next. Stir until smooth and creamy. Season with salt, pepper, and chopped fresh basil to taste.
