Homemade Samosa Recipe

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: In a bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, 1/2 tsp salt, and 4 tbsp of oil or melted butter. Rub the ingredients together until the mixture becomes crumbly. Gradually add 1/2 cup of warm water (or as needed) and knead into a firm, smooth dough. Cover the dough and let it rest for 20-30 minutes.
  2. Shape the Samosas: After the dough has rested, divide it into small balls. Roll each ball into a circle, and then cut it in half. Form a cone shape with one half of the dough, sealing the edge with a bit of water. Fill the cone with your choice of filling and seal the top tightly, pinching the edges to ensure the filling stays inside.
  3. Fry the Samosas: Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry the samosas in batches, turning them occasionally, until they are golden brown and crispy on all sides. This should take about 3-4 minutes per batch, depending on the size of your samosas.
  4. Serve: Once the samosas are golden and crispy, remove them from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil. Serve hot with chutney or your favorite dipping sauce!
