In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter and sugar until smooth. Add vanilla extract and the eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition. The mixture should look glossy and slightly thick.
Step 3: Mix Dry Ingredients
In another bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Sifting ensures an even, lump-free batter with consistent chocolate flavor.
Step 4: Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures
Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture with a spatula. Mix only until combined — avoid overmixing to keep the texture fudgy, not cakey.
Step 5: Add Chocolate Chips
If using chocolate chips, fold them in now for extra richness. They’ll melt slightly as the brownies bake for a gooey texture.
