EASY Classic Homemade Lasagna

🛒 Ingredients

For the Rich Meat Sauce (Ragu)

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1 medium yellow onion, finely diced1

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced2

  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20 preferred for flavor)

  • 1/2 cup dry red wine (optional, but adds depth)

  • 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes3

  • 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce

  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano4

  • 1 teaspoon dried basil

  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for a kick)5

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

For the Cheese Filling

  • 1 (15 ounce) container ricotta cheese (whole milk preferred)6

  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten

  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

For Assembly

  • 12-15 no-boil lasagna noodles (or 9 traditional, boiled noodles)

  • 4 cups (about 1 pound) shredded mozzarella cheese, divided

  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese, for topping
