Make-Ahead and Storage Tips

If you’d like to prepare these chimichangas ahead of time, you can assemble them and store them in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours before baking. Simply wrap them tightly in plastic wrap or foil and keep them chilled. When ready to bake, remove them from the fridge and follow the baking instructions as usual. If you’re preparing them ahead of time, they may need an extra minute or two in the oven to fully cook through.

For leftovers, store the baked chimichangas in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat them in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10-12 minutes until they are heated through and regain their crispiness. You can also microwave them, but the texture won’t be as crisp as oven reheating.
