Instructions
1. Prep the Vegetables:
- Thinly slice the cucumbers and red onion using a sharp knife or mandoline for uniform pieces.
- If cucumbers are extra juicy, sprinkle with a pinch of salt and let sit in a colander for 15 minutes. Then pat dry with paper towels to avoid a watery salad.
2. Make the Dressing:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine sour cream, mayonnaise (if using), vinegar or lemon juice, dill, salt, pepper, and sugar (if using).
- Whisk together until smooth and well blended.
3. Combine and Chill:
- Add the sliced cucumbers and red onion to the dressing. Gently toss until all the vegetables are evenly coated.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
