Step 1 ā Prepare the Cream Filling
- In a heatproof bowl, whisk the egg yolks and sugar together. Place the bowl over a pot of simmering water (double boiler) and whisk continuously for about 5 minutes until thickened and pale. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- In a separate bowl, whip the chilled heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
- In another bowl, whisk the mascarpone until smooth, then gently fold it into the cooled egg mixture.
- Finally, fold in the whipped cream until the mixture is light, airy, and silky smooth.
Step 2 ā Prepare the Coffee Syrup
- Brew strong espresso and let it cool completely.
- Stir in the coffee liqueur (if using) for added depth of flavor.
Step 3 ā Assemble the Tiramisu
