Christmas Ooey Gooey Butter Cookies

1. Cream the butter & cream cheese

Beat together:

  • softened cream cheese
  • softened butter

Mix until completely smooth and  creamy.

2. Add the egg and vanilla

Mix well.

3. Add the cake mix

Add the yellow cake mix gradually.
The  dough will be very thick and sticky — this is normal.

4. Chill

Refrigerate the dough for 30–60 minutes so it firms up for rolling.

5. Shape the cookies

Roll dough into 1-inch (3 cm) balls.
Roll each ball in powdered sugar.
Optionally dip the top of each cookie ball into Christmas sprinkles.

6. Bake

Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Bake at 350°F (180°C) for 10–12 minutes.

Cookies should look:

  • slightly cracked on top
  • soft in the center (they firm up as they cool)

7. Cool
