- Melt the Butter and Marshmallows:
In a large saucepan set over medium-low heat, melt the butter completely. Once melted, add the entire bag of marshmallows. Stir constantly with a heatproof spatula or wooden spoon until the marshmallows are completely melted and the mixture is smooth and glossy. Be sure not to let it scorch—keep the heat moderate and stir frequently.
- Add Vanilla:
Remove the pan from heat and quickly stir in the vanilla extract. This adds a touch of warmth and depth to the marshmallow flavor.
- Mix in Popcorn:
Add the popped popcorn to the marshmallow mixture a few cups at a time, folding it gently to coat each piece evenly. Be thorough but gentle to avoid crushing the popcorn. Continue mixing until all the popcorn is coated and gooey.
