Assemble the Cake
- Place the first cooled cake layer onto a serving plate or into a cake pan lined with parchment for easy removal.
- Spread the softened vanilla ice cream over the cake in a thick, even layer, using a spatula to reach the edges.
- Drizzle the warm chocolate sauce generously over the ice cream layer, allowing some of it to gently sink in.
- If desired, sprinkle crushed Oreo cookies or chopped nuts over the sauce for added crunch and texture.
- Place the second cake layer on top, pressing down lightly to secure the layers.
- Cover the cake well with plastic wrap or foil and freeze for at least 4 hours, or until the cake is fully firm and set for clean slicing.
Serve and Enjoy
Before serving, drizzle additional warm chocolate sauce over the top of the frozen cake for a glossy, indulgent finish. Garnish with whipped cream, chocolate chips, chopped nuts, or cherries as desired. Slice with a sharp knife, wiping it clean between cuts for neat presentation. Serve immediately while the ice cream is perfectly frozen and the sauce is still warm for the best texture and flavor contrast. Store any leftovers covered in the freezer.
