Chocolate Pound Cake

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line with parchment paper.
  2. Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large mixing bowl, beat softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy (3–5 minutes).
  3. Add Eggs: Beat in eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated before adding the next. Stir in vanilla extract.
  4. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Combine Wet and Dry: Gradually mix dry ingredients into the creamed mixture, alternating with the milk. Start and end with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  6. Fold in Chocolate Chips (Optional): Gently stir in chocolate chips or chopped chocolate if using.
  7. Bake: Pour batter into prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Bake for 55–65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Cool: Let cake cool in pan for 10–15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

  • Dust with powdered sugar for a simple finish.
  • Drizzle with melted chocolate for extra indulgence.
  • Serve with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
