🌌 Preparation Steps
1. Make the Chocolate Cake:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two round or rectangular cake pans.
- In a bowl, mix all dry ingredients: flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla to the dry ingredients. Mix until smooth.
- Gradually pour in hot water or coffee and stir until the batter is glossy and well combined.
- Divide the batter between pans and bake for 25–30 minutes. Cool completely on wire racks.
2. Prepare the Berry Layer:
- In a saucepan, heat blueberries, blackberries, sugar, and lemon juice until berries begin to break down and release juices.
- Add the cornstarch slurry and cook, stirring constantly, until thickened.
- Remove from heat and allow to cool fully.
3. Make the Vanilla Cream:
- In a saucepan, whisk together milk, cornstarch, flour, sugar, and vanilla over medium heat until thick and smooth.
- Remove from heat, stir in butter, and allow to cool completely.
- Once cooled, whisk in the chilled heavy cream until light and airy.
