Ingredients
For the Apple Donut Base
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 3/4 cup light brown sugar packed
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 large egg at room temperature
- 3/4 cup buttermilk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted and cooled
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup finely diced apple such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp
For the Crumble Topping
- 1/2 cup all purpose flour
- 1/3 cup light brown sugar packed
- 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
- 3 tbsp cold unsalted butter cubed
For the Glaze (Optional)
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1–2 tbsp milk or apple cider
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
