Ingredients

  • 1 (12 oz) jar maraschino cherries, drained (reserve 1–2 tbsp juice)
  • 1 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp fine sea salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp almond extract
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chopped almonds (optional)
